Effective Patient Communication: An Essential Skill for Today's Diabetes Educator


 

Objectives:

  • Identify the current goals and objectives of diabetes self management education and the paradigm shift in diabetes education delivery

  • Describe the factors which influence behavior

  • Discuss selected models/theories that help to explain readiness to change and how they can be utilized in diabetes education

  • Describe effective communication skills and techniques which help to promote behavior change

  • Practice these communication skills and techniques
